Well not a lot to talk about really! Been knitting away at the scarf (My nana's said she'll start MY scarf for me today or tomorrow. She'll probably have it finished in a day or two. I've been knitting it since the middle of June!). I've figured out I need to do AT LEAST 20 reps of the stripes to make it anywhere near long enough. Might be 25. We'll see. I keep holding it up to me every time a do a few stripes, lol!

Me and the other half had a fun day out to the local museum the other day, hehe. There was some continental market thing going on because it was bank holiday so we had a wander around there, dodging past those people that walk around with clipboards and try and make u sign up to charities by making you feel guilty. Religious nuts I can get away from, I just tell them I'm into Wicca and they run a mile or let me have a nice argument with them. But charities always seem to get me. It was worse when I had my dreads. Crikey! They were like some kinda Clipboard Person magnet! Anyways, enough ranting about clipboard people.
So yes, we had a nice day at the museum and the market, grabbed some lunch, bumped into a ton of people then met up with my best friend and her soon to be husband for a quick drink (Diet coke for me for obvious reasons, I don't want a pickled baby!)

But we're gonna organise a 'slob' day for next week hopefully. He's gonna bring his 360 and his Wii over and we're gonna slob about all day and play silly games and hopefully eat take-away :)

Back to the knitting....

Well, I'm still knitting away at my scarf. My parents are getting miffed coz I'm constantly watching the Create and Craft shopping channel on Sky while I knit, hehe. I swear I'm turning into my first boyfriend's Mum. She was always doing some craft related hobby and ALWAYS had create and craft on in the background, when she was crafting, ironing, making tea, anything! Basically if his little sister didn't have possesion of the TV remote (Which was pretty much all of the time if she was in) then his mum would have Create and Craft on. Dad keeps complaining coz I don't actually have any money to buy anything from them, but I've gotten so much inspiration and so many ideas from the shows and the little demos they do. I actually made a little photo book for my best friend yesterday. That's what unemployment does to you...
But anyway, my knitting is getting on pretty nicely. I've managed to lift myself a few centimeters out of the funk I'm in and be able to actually pick my knitting up for more than a row at a time. The pattern calls for another 3 repitions of the stripes on my scarf, but I'm gonna do a few more than that to make it ultra long, coz it just doent seem long enough to me. It's about 2 and a half times the length of my knitting needles so far. I'm just guessing coz I'm too lazy to get up and find Mum's tape measure to measure it properly.
I need to get this out of the way and find myself a nice hat pattern to get started on. I think I want a nice baggy hat. Not a tight beanie style one. More like a berret I guess, but knitted. I'm trying to think how I could make a berret with the Slytherin colours in it, but never mind. I'll probably have to brave the world of round-needles too. Oooo Errr!

Anyway, I'm off to get some more stripes done :)

NOTE- Please note that I'm aware that the time line for some of the characters I've used isn't correct (i.e Snape and Lucius Malfoy were not in the same year. Snape started in 1971 and Lucius was in his final year in 1971). But I wanted to use all of my favourite 'grown-ups' from the Harry Potter books in my fan fiction. The majority of my characters are from the time that James and Lily were at school, with some pre-James/Lily characters thrown in :)

Chapter One - The first day.

Mina looked down at the toes of her Converse. Her mother was kneeling in front of her, her make-up starting to run down her cheeks like little black rivers.

“Now, you have everything you need, don’t you?”

“Yes, Mother,” Mina replied politely.

Her mother dabbed at her pale grey eyes again with a dark green handkerchief, “If you need anything you just write home, ok? Use one of your brothers’ owls.”

Mina nodded and her mother burst out into another wave of tears. Casting her dark grey eyes around the platform, Mina saw quite a few other mothers were doing the same thing and breathed a sigh of relief. Her mother had never acted like this when they’d dropped her brothers off for their first year at Hogwarts. Then again, Mina’s father had come with them that time. Mina scowled. She obviously wasn’t important enough for her father to lower himself to coming here to see her off like he had her brothers.

Mina’s mother seemed to have calmed herself a little, and was starting to fuss over Mina’s appearance.

“Are you sure you want to go in your muggle clothes dear?” Her mother asked, looking down at Mina’s ripped jeans and black hooded jumper, “I can send for a House Elf to bring you a nice dress robe.”

“No thank you mother,” Mina replied, “I have my uniform to put on before we arrive at Hogwarts anyway.”

She’d already decided that if she was going to have to be stuck on the train for hours, she’d rather be comfortable.

Mina’s mother started fussing over her hair, which was an unusual orangey colour and hung in soft curls down her back. Mina had tied it up as she usually did, in two high pigtails. Her mother reached into her handbag and extracted another dark green handkerchief and Mina took a quick step back before her mother could do the whole, “you have dirt on your face” routine.  But her mother pressed the green silk into Mina’s hand. Mina noticed it had coins in it.

“For the trolley on the train,” she smiled sadly, “They even have chocolate frogs.”

Mina smiled and gave her mother a hug as a loud whistle sounded from somewhere. Her mother tried to compose herself a bit, and stood up.

“You’re brothers have your trunk with theirs,” she said, as Mina stepped up into the door of the train, “And don’t forget to leave your backpack with your trunk, ok? They all get moved to your dorm rooms for you. Don’t take it into the Great Hall.”

Mina nodded and the door to the train carriage slammed shut. Mina pulled the window down and her mother stood on tiptoes to speak to her through it.

“And Willamina,” she said in a hushed voice, “Please don’t worry about making it into Slytherin for the sake of your father.”

Mina felt a lump rise in her throat, and nodded as she didn’t trust her voice not to betray her.

The window of the door started to roll itself back shut and Mina stood and waved to her mother as the train pulled out of King’s Cross station. She stood there for a while, watching the backs of the buildings turn into the suburbs of London before turning into the leafy green countryside. There was no going back now.

I've finally caved in and made a Live Journal account. Excuse me if I seem a bit retarded while I learn my way around the site!

Anyhoo, I started this journal mainly for my knitting and my Harry Potter fanfic, which I'm starting again for the millionth time. I just finished the final book (Booo! No more Potter!) and changed my mind about alot of things that I'd originally written in MY story because of it. Also changed it from being when Harry et al are at school to it being the time when Harry's parents are. I mean, his parents are more interesting. We know what happens to Harry and that lot when they were at school, but not his parents!

As for my knitting, I'm currently starting V2 of my Slytherin scarf. The first one I started was a pre- POA scarf (Big stripes) and I decided it looked a bit more childish than the POA one (Little stripes), so I started again. Although, I was meant to be knitting two, before the middle of October. One for me, one for a friend's birthday. Seeing as I'm only just about half way through the first one, I don't think that's going to happen. I knit waaaay too slowly, and I have a baby due at the end of November so I can't even postpone it as a Christmas present.
What I think I'm going to do is finish this one for my friend, buy some more wool and get my Nana to knit me one with the same pattern :D My Nana knits like a demon, so she'll probably finish my scarf before I finish the other half of the one I'm working on. Oh well. Least when my friend wears his Slytherin scarf to keep warm, he'll think of the MONTHS it took me to make the blasted thing. Well he better do anyways!

Once I've finished my scarf, I'm gonna attempt my first thing that it's a long rectangle (Scarf, phone cover, iPod cozie). I'm going to attempt a HAT! I still haven't found a pattern that I REALLY like, but I'm working on it :) (Any free hat patterns would be gratefully accepted :D )

So, HP Fan Fiction. I'm still considering starting a seperate LJ and linking the posts in this journal, to keep it all in the same place. But I'm not sure. The first version of the story was posted on the Warner Brothers forums, but seemed to get eaten somewhere. Buggers. I think hosting it on my own site/journal would probably be safer.

Anyways, I'm out for now. I have loadsa hand written pages of my story to type up, then I'll decide what to do with it and you shall all be first to hear what I'm doing with it! (If anyone's even reading this.....)
